"I think this is the textbook I used in Primary 6 (PSLE) class in 1960. I was in an English stream primary school where the teaching was in English. Chinese was taught as a subject using this textbook.

The same textbook would be used by every student in the class. I think each school would choose its own textbook. I had difficulty comprehending a lot of characters during lesson as I did not study Chinese during the last three years. This was because there were no Chinese language teachers during my Primary 3 to Primary 5 classes in another school. Today I am unable to read Chinese."
